On the surface, he lives by his stage name of Onew (soft and gentle). He’s awfully altruistic, considerate and caring of others without asking for anything in return.

As eldest and leader of the idol group SHINee, he’s known to have gentle charisma. He stands among his members instead of standing out.

He pushes his members to the front to grow in the spotlight while he watches them from the back.

He’s also known to be the image of a courteous and humble leader, still learning from experience and others what it takes to be a good leader and hyung.

He’s also the happy pill of the group, especially known for his trademark eye smile.

He also likes to crack jokes, and show off unconventional tricks for the entertainment and pleasure of others. Taemin has stated that Jinki looking serious is a strange face on him.

As much as his stage persona makes him out to be an extroverted, charismatic, approachable and sociable person, nothing can be further from the truth. He treats most people he meets as acquaintances, talking to them as Onew, and not Lee Jinki. Behind the cameras, he’s rather cold and stoic.

Lee Jinki is reserved, selectively extroverted, closed-off, individualistic, and fragile. He’s shy and awkward at presenting himself to people, but his job calls for it, so he does his best.He prefers to keep his personal and professional life separate. He only has a handful of friends he truly trusts, including his members.

He’s also used to being alone. He’s the only child in the family, so he’s grown to become independent. He doesn’t mind if he does things alone, he even thinks it’s better to handle matters alone as part of his individualistic trait. He has said he is trying his best to show his side as Lee Jinki.

He’s known to be a good listener to his members’ problems, and provides thoughtful advice. However, he doesn’t burden them with problems of his own. Kyuhyun stated that he’s someone who has many secrets. And these secrets, he’s kept to himself until now.

As a leader, he wants to be a role model of strength to his members. However, there will be times when his fragility gets the better of him. In contrast to his happy-go-lucky and bright appearance, he’s an emotional person.

But with recent events that would have severely broken anyone else, Jinki would have to remain as the immovable core strength and foundation of SHINee as they continue their journey as a group.

Chosen as the leader due to being the oldest. Has mistaken Jonghyun as the eldest until it was revealed that it was him who was the oldest in the group.

Stricken with Onew Condition: falling over for no reason, jokes that go nowhere, the ability to freeze the people around him with his comments or jokes, committing mistakes in unlikely situations, turning quiet suddenly, and not talking to anyone.

Was second in the entire school. Good at studying, but he stated that it’s not much of achievement for him because everyone has their own strengths.

Admitted he has weak stamina, and commits the most mistakes during dance practice.

He has held a note for 43 seconds.

His vocal nodule surgery in 2014 is considered one of the hardest points in his life, as it made him wonder whether he was ever going to sing again, and if his voice would be the same. His vocal coach and long-time mentor, Kim Yeonwoo, helped him train to get his voice back.
